Wallspace
How Wallspace Works
Original local art, displayed in places you love and bought in person.
For artists
Apply, find a venue that fits your work, and request an exhibition month. Once accepted, arrange the display with the venue and keep your lineup current.
For venues
Contact Wallspace for manual setup. Sign in by email link, review requests and coordinate exhibitions. Your venue earns its disclosed commission on qualifying sales.
For buyers
Discover art at the venue, scan its exhibition QR code, pay securely and collect the work in person after payment is confirmed.
Common questions
Who sells the artwork?
The artist is the seller. Wallspace facilitates the sale and collects payment for the artist through Stripe. Checkout and your receipt identify the artist by their public seller name. The venue provides display and pickup services.
Who can exhibit?
Artists apply for review and must own and have authored the original work. No resale is allowed. The maximum asking price is $1,000. Applying or signing in does not guarantee approval, an exhibition or a sale.
What does it cost?
For a Wallspace sale, the artist receives the artwork subtotal less the separate commission the artist owes the venue and the 15% Wallspace artist fee, which includes card processing and platform costs. Check the venue’s disclosed commission before requesting a month. Buyer sales tax is shown separately at checkout; it is not artist proceeds. Stripe setup is required for connected-account transfers. No bank payout date is guaranteed.
How do exhibition requests work?
Check the venue’s availability, commission and artwork-count preferences, then request one calendar month. Piece-count preferences are guidance, not a guaranteed fit. A request is not a confirmed booking. After acceptance, coordinate installation and removal with the venue in the reservation workspace.
Can the artwork or prices change?
Yes. The QR page shows the current lineup and unsold prices. Sold works can leave the display, and a Live exhibition can be empty until replacements are added. An existing checkout can retain its original quote until it expires. The private Exhibition history remembers earlier recorded displays, prices and Wallspace sales; routine edits need no new signature.
What if I sell a work elsewhere?
Remove it from the exhibition in Wallspace before making it unavailable, and confirm the save succeeded. No separate outside-sale status or report is needed. A pending checkout may block removal; contact support if needed. If you leave it listed and a Wallspace buyer pays and collects it, you must resolve your separate sale yourself.
Can a venue cancel an exhibition?
Yes. The venue can cancel an accepted exhibition at any time before completion, giving a reason. If it is already Live, this records an early end. Arrange removal together. Early end keeps the original month occupied; unresolved pre-Live display or checkout may also retain it. New dates need a new request and acceptance. Artists can withdraw pending requests and ask support about accepted ones. Cancellation does not erase payments or automatically refund buyers.
When are artists and venues paid?
For new sales, both shares are scheduled for transfer no earlier than 14 calendar days after confirmed payment is recorded, subject to available funds and payment review. Your buyer can still collect immediately. The hold is not a return window; bank settlement takes additional time. Unresolved financial exceptions stay under review, even after day 14. If a sale is refunded because the buyer could not receive the artwork, neither the artist nor the venue earns anything from that sale, and Wallspace gives up its sale fee.
How do I buy and collect art?
Visit the venue, inspect the artwork and scan the exhibition QR code. Select the exact work and confirm that you are at the venue, it is there, and you intend to collect it now. Accept the Purchase Terms and pay through Stripe Checkout. Once payment is confirmed, you may safely take that artwork with you without staff approval, or ask venue staff for help. Wallspace does not ship artwork or take physical custody.
Do I need an account, phone number or email?
No Wallspace account or phone number is needed. Enter your email once in Stripe Checkout for your receipt. The artist and venue can privately see that email for purchase support, not marketing.
Where is my proof of purchase?
After confirmed payment, your phone shows the artwork, venue, receipt reference and amount paid. Keep the emailed receipt link or save a screenshot. You do not need staff approval or a pickup code. The receipt proves payment, not physical collection.
What if my payment or receipt email is delayed?
If payment is still processing, do not take the artwork or pay again. Refresh the status or contact support. If payment is confirmed but email is delayed, your phone receipt remains valid proof of payment; save it while email delivery retries.
Can I buy from a saved QR code later?
You can return to the venue and use the saved QR when the artwork is still available and you can confirm you intend to collect it now. Remote purchase for later collection is not the intended service. No shipping or storage is provided. If you have paid but cannot collect, contact Wallspace support.
What if the artwork is missing or difficult to remove?
Do not pay for a work that is not physically there. Ask venue staff for help if removal is unsafe or you are uncomfortable doing it yourself; staff availability is not guaranteed. If you already paid and cannot collect, contact support with your receipt reference.
How do artists and venues know an artwork sold?
Confirmed payment marks it sold on newly loaded website pages and triggers sale notifications. Artists and venues can open Sales and expand Purchase details to see the buyer email, receipt reference and payment status for their own sale. Transfer pending refers to money moving to their Stripe account, not an unpaid purchase.
Can I return my purchase?
All sales are final. Inspect the artwork in person before paying; there are no discretionary returns or exchanges. If you have paid but cannot receive the artwork because it is missing, stolen or damaged before handover, contact support promptly with your receipt reference. Once we verify that you could not receive it, we will refund the purchase. For other payment problems, contact support and read the Purchase Terms.
Who covers payment disputes and fees?
Wallspace covers ordinary processing, refund and dispute fees and losses. For a completed sale where the buyer received the artwork, honest artists and venues do not lose their sale earnings or pay extra costs just because the payment is disputed. Suspected artist fraud or collusion is investigated individually; a dispute alone is not proof of fraud. Wallspace may seek repayment where artist involvement in fraud is established.
Do I need an account?
You can browse and get purchase help without an account. Artists and provisioned venue owners sign in with a one-time email link, not a password. Never share your login link. Venue onboarding is arranged directly with Wallspace; there is no public self-service claim process for launch.
